5-year-old boy struck and killed by SUV after playing in Queens playground

A 5-year-old boy was struck and killed by a car that ran onto Queens Street, police said.

Police said the boy was attacked in front of 20-19 124th Street in College Point, near the Poppenhusen playground, around 6:06 p.m.

Police said the boy was “jumped into the roadway” when a 2008 Honda CRV traveling southbound on 124th Street struck him.

“I just saw a little kid under the car. He was blue. He was bleeding,” a witness who gave his name only as Rob told the Post.

The man suffered head injuries and was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where he died, police said.

No arrests have been made.

Robb said the boy was coming from the park and was not with his parents when he ran into the road.

“That woman [driver] It wasn’t a speeding violation or anything. The child was so small that it just came out between the cars,” Rob said.

Robb said the “hysterical” driver immediately stopped the car, got out and started screaming for help.

He added that the five-year-old’s parents were “in shock” when they arrived.
