Graco Recalls Infant Car Seats Due to Safety Risks

Over 5,000 Graco infant car seats sold at major retailers like Target and Walmart are being recalled in the U.S. due to potential injury hazards linked to the seat base.

The recall affects Graco SnugRide Turn & Slide seats sold between January and March 2026 at various retailers, including Amazon and Babylist. More information can be found on the Graco website.

Graco emphasized its commitment to child safety in a statement about the recall, acknowledging the trust parents place in their products. They expressed understanding over the potential confusion this situation may bring to families.

As part of the recall, Graco is offering replacement products at no cost. The recall was initiated due to findings from post-manufacturing tests that pointed to a structural concern.

According to a report from the Department of Transportation, 5,126 units might be impacted. It indicates a heightened risk of injury as the rear-facing infant seats may detach from the base in certain crash scenarios.

Specifically, the issue arises from the locking hook on the base, which could lead to the carrier coming loose during an accident.

This recall only affects selected SnugRide Turn & Slide models and some associated travel systems. Notably, other models, such as the EasyTurn and Turn2Me, along with different SnugRide variants, are not included in this recall.

While Graco advises users to stop utilizing the seats with bases, they mentioned that the seats can still be safely used without the base if properly secured with the vehicle’s seat belt, as per the product instructions.

The company is providing a free replacement base for those who purchased an infant seat, or offer replacements for just the seat or base as needed.

Graco urges affected owners to check the model number on their base label, upload a photo of it, and complete the recall registration form. They also recommend that customers do not return the products to stores.
