Texas Border Patrol agents worked with sheriff deputies from two counties, leading to the seizing of more than $500,000 in cash. Vehicle residents face state fees related to cash smuggling.
US Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks posted “another big hit for criminal enterprises” in X's report. The chief wrote Friday that a Texas agent teamed up with deputies from the Live Oak County Sheriff's Office during a traffic stop on a U.S. Highway 281 SUV.
During the stop, authorities discovered more than $267,000 in cash hidden under the back seat of the vehicle. Deputies arrested the driver and passengers on charges of money laundering and illegal use of criminal measures.
A day ago, the bank posted another report of a cash attack. This time, the agent worked with deputies from the Fayette County Sheriff's Office during a vehicle's traffic stop. Authorities discovered about $280,000 in cash hidden in the vehicle.
Authorities seized the vehicle and arrested the driver on state charges of bulk cash smuggling, the bank said.
