A new poll shared exclusively with Breitbart News finds that an overwhelming majority of general election voters believe only American citizens should be allowed to vote in U.S. elections.
Jenny Beth Martin of the Tea Party Patriots told Breitbart News: “We are months away from one of the most important elections of our lifetime, and the security of that election is being compromised by people illegally crossing our borders. “We are under siege due to foreign invasion,” he said. “Some of them are finally able to vote in our elections with little impediment.”
The poll, commissioned by McLaughlin & Associates for Tea Party Patriots Action, found that 85.5% of voters believe only U.S. citizens can vote in U.S. elections, even at the local government level. It turns out that the answer is yes.
Meanwhile, only 1 in 10 voters say U.S. elections should not be limited to U.S. citizens, and about 4% are unsure.
“It’s simple: Americans want to protect American democracy and American elections from foreign interference by allowing non-citizens to vote,” pollster John McLaughlin said. Told. “American voters want to ensure that their votes are not canceled by non-citizen votes.”
Similarly, when it comes to federal elections, 86% of voters said only American citizens should be allowed to vote, while 10.2% said they did not. Nearly eight in 10 voters said they supported laws that would prohibit foreign nationals from interfering in U.S. elections, including voting.
Voters also strongly support proof of citizenship requirements in U.S. elections.
For example, more than 83% of voters said proof of U.S. citizenship should be required for U.S. elections, and more than 86% said proof of U.S. citizenship should be required for voter registration.
A minority of voters, between 9 and 12 percent, said they do not support certifying citizenship laws in U.S. elections.
In a statement to Breitbart News, Election Integrity Network’s Cleta Mitchell called non-referendum votes “the greatest threat to the integrity of elections in 2024,” and Voter Reference Foundation’s Gina Swoboda said, “Preserving fairness. “Each state must adopt proof of citizenship requirements.” and the effectiveness of our electoral process. ”
The poll was conducted among 1,000 general election voters from January 25th to January 31st.
