6 teams that might make a trade offer for Matthew Stafford

In January 2021, trade involving Matthew Stafford shook the NFL landscape.

Will that happen again?

That winter Detroit Lions I parted ways with Stafford and sent him to Los Angeles Rams On a huge hit deal, including Rem, who started quarterback Jared Goff. You can claim that the transaction was successful on both teams. The Rams won the Super Bowl with Stafford, and the Lions built the division by turning draft picks they acquired in trades to players like Yamir Gibbs and Sam Laporta – earning teams around Goff himself.

Now, Stafford could move again. The Rams gave agents a talk with other teams about his potential trade value. To be clear, although there is a belief that this is not the situation he demanded trade, and that the move will allow Stafford and the Rams to better understand his contract value.

Still, the team could make offers that are difficult for both players and the Rams to ignore.

Here are some teams that might do exactly that.

Pittsburgh Steelers

last year Pittsburgh Steelers Russell Wilson and Justin Fields played playoff runs under the center.

However, with both quarterbacks being set to hit free agency, Pittsburgh may be aiming to go in a completely different direction on the offense. The Steelers have a talented rushing attack that certainly benefits from having a playoff caliber defense and a quarterback in Stafford's caliber that emphasizes opposing defenses.

Additionally, the Steelers are set to be 21st in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, which could potentially be out of range for the top quarterback in this draft class. Adding the cap space Pittsburgh is working with, there is room for such an offer to the Rams.

Tennessee Titan

The Titans are in an attractive position this offseason.

Tennessee holds the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, but many believe Titans can see non-quarterback positions in that selection, kicking the QB decision in 2026 . Ocked Titan on the first pick, and Travis Hunter Jr. joined the mix.

But if Titans had the opportunity to solidify their QB spot in Stafford's deal, without giving up on their first choice? It certainly is appealing.

New York Jets

He decided to move on from Aaron Rodgers. New York Jets I've returned to the QB game this offseason.

The Jets hold their seventh pick in the upcoming NFL Draft and see Chedure Sanders or Camward fall on them at that location, depending on how the rest of the NFL offseason unfolds I was able to do that. You can also wait for the quarterback until the second or third day of this draft and may come out of Tyrod Taylor/Jordan Travis/Rookie QB and name it later and be immersed in QB class next year.

But like Pittsburgh, the Jets have talent on the roster and may be interested in Stafford's swing. The cap space position in New York is not as strong as Pittsburgh. On the cap – But playing in the New York City market offers perks.

New York Giants

Come to think of it…

New York Giants Decide to make your own quarterback decision. The Giants have linked with draft quarterbacks throughout this offseason, and they'll be sitting third in the 2025 NFL Draft and their preferred options may fall on them at that spot.

Still, when rumors of a potential Stafford trade first appeared, the Giants were a team linked to such a move. Colin Cowhard had the idea that the Giants would trade their third pick for the Rams earlier this month. It was immediately rejected.

“[T]There's no hellish way for the Giants to give up Matthew Stafford's third overall pick,” Shefater said.

Where there is smoke, there is often a fire. New York may not let go of the 37-year-old quarterback's third selection, but they may make another offer to the Rams.

Las Vegas Raiders

This may take Pete Carroll to wait for things to turn back in Las Vegas.

The Raiders need a quarterback and have the second-largest cap space in the NFL ( New England Patriots) And he will sit sixth in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Perhaps they run at Chedur Sanders – and minority owner Tom Brady appreciates Sanders' traits in that position – or, if the opportunity presents itself, the Raiders are Stafford You may look for the instant impact that comes with.

Indianapolis Colts

Immediately after the end of the 2024 NFL season Indianapolis Colts General Manager Chris Ballard met with the media and showed that “competition” was necessary in the quarterback position.

Indianapolis drafted Anthony Richardson in his fourth choice in the 2023 NFL Draft, but Florida products still haven't beenared the hype coming out of college. Richardson's rookie campaign was shortened due to a shoulder injury, and he was benched this past season in favor of Joe Flaco.

“We have to compete in that position,” Ballard said after the season. “One is the fact that competition makes everyone better, and two. [Richardson has] It has not been proven that he can play 17 games.

“We bring in people who we think are the best guys we can bring in,” Ballard said in January. “I'm not ready to target where it came from, who it will become, what year they will be.”

With Stafford being allowed to measure value in the trade market, you'll expect Ballard to pick up the phone.
