6-week-old baby mauled to death in crib by family dog

The grieving mother of a 6-week-old Tennessee baby killed by the family’s dog says the only thing she’s grateful for in the heartbreaking tragedy is that her son is able to help other boys and girls.

Ezra Mansoor was just six weeks old when he was attacked by a dog at his home in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Ezra was taking a nap in his crib when the family’s dog suddenly attacked the newborn baby.

Ezra died on Thursday afternoon, six days after battling for his life after suffering brain swelling and intracranial bleeding following an animal attack.

The parents are perplexed by the fatal dog attack as the dog had never shown any signs of aggression in the past.

“No matter the size of your dog, you can never be too cautious.”

The father, Mark Mansoor, 28, has had huskies since he was a teenager.

His grieving mother, Chloe Mansour, 25, said: WBIR Television“You think it’ll never happen to you, but it can happen to anyone, no matter what breed they have or how long they’ve had a dog.”

She added: “No matter how big or small the dog is, how long you’ve had it, how well it’s handled with kids before, I think you can never be too careful. You can never be too careful.”

The family decided to donate Ezra’s organs to help other babies in need.

“He will bring our family the most wonderful news ever and we are so grateful that he will live on through so many other boys and girls,” Chloe said.

“He will always be remembered as a hero on earth and an angel in heaven,” Mark said of Ezra.

The family dog responsible for the fatal attack was transported to Young-Williams Animal Center.

“Young Williams Animal Center is in the custody of an adult dog following a reported incident on May 24, 2024 in Knoxville in which a young child was injured. The dog has been placed under a 10-day bite quarantine as required by state law,” the animal center said in a statement.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the incident.

“Being his mom has been the biggest honor and the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” Chloe said. “I never realized how much support we had and how many people already loved him until this happened.”

The grieving mum added: “I will look back and instantly remember the hundreds of sleepless nights, dirty nappies and all the crankiness and will never take a moment for granted.”
