The controversial “60 Minutes” interview at the heart of President Donald Trump's high stakes lawsuit against CBS News is the currently Emmy-nominated program.
The 46th News & Documentary Emmy Award nominations were announced on Thursday. “60 Minutes” landed some nods. Most notably, it was in the outstandingly compiled interview category of the Prime Time Special, featuring then-President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Waltz.
Other candidates in that category include CBS interviews with Supreme Court Ketanji Brown Jackson and the late Pope Francis, as well as Celine Dion of NBC, and ABC interviews with Brittney Griner.

“Of course, he has been nominated for Best Edit because it requires serious talent to edit Kamala's answers to be consistent and understandable.
Neither CBS News nor representatives from Trump's legal team responded to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
Last fall, Trump filed a $10 billion lawsuit (which has since increased to $2 billion) against CBS News and its parent company Paramount Global.
The lawsuit comes from the exchange Harris swapped for “60 minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker, and why Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “hadn't heard” the Biden administration.
Harris was widely laughed out About the answer to “Word Salad,” which aired in a preview clip of the “Face the Nation” interview. However, when Whitaker asked the same question during the Primetime Special, Harris responded in another, more concise response. Critics at the time accused CBS news of compiling Harris's “Word Salad” answers, protecting the then-president from further backlash until Election Day.
“60 minutes” says that when he called the company owner Paramount into the air, the dismissed producer felt it had interfered
Earlier this year, the Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Brendan Kerr After the complaint was filed, we ordered CBS News to hand over an unedited transcript of the interview as part of an investigation into whether the network violated the FCC's “news distortion” policy. CBS had refused to release unedited transcripts when the controversy first began.
The raw transcript and footage released showed that both sets of Harris' comments came from the same response, but CBS News aired only the first half of her response in the “Face the Nation” preview clip, and the second half of her response on Primetime Special.
In the months since then, CBS News has faced confusion. Paramount's ruling shareholder Shari Redstone reportedly supports resolving the lawsuit with the president. Many believe it will help pave the way for Paramount's planned merger with Skydance Media in hopes of preventing potential retaliation by Trump's FCC, which has the authority to suspend billion-dollar deals.
The parties agreed to mediation It is currently ongoing and indicates that a court feud will lead to a settlement.

“60 Minutes” executive producer Bill Owens, who had refused to apologise for Harris' interview at the time, resigned last week, citing pressure from companies that he said was preventing him from maintaining editorial independence. Not only did Redstone want to “hold the tab” in upcoming segments in which Trump is involved, but also reportedly urged CBS executives to delay sensitive reports about Trump until the merger agreement was closed with Skydance.
The speculation was confirmed by journalists about “CBS Evening News” and “60 Minutes” that aired to beloved network producers while working on Trump's looming lawsuit.

One CBS News Insider told Fox News Digital that everyone on the network is “Edge” than ongoing drama.
“No one knows what the next shoe will drop,” they told Fox News Digital. “And internally, it's very confusing because no one knows what's going to happen next.”
CBS staff believe Trump's lawsuit It's “BS” and no one wants to see Paramount settling down. Some are “scary” about the prospect of a settlement. I believe it will “damage the news department and its perceptions.”
