Large Gathering at Clemson for UniteUS Event
On Tuesday night, over 6,000 attendees came together at Clemson University in South Carolina for the final UniteUS event of the year.
Tonya Prewett, the founder and organizer of UniteUS, shared on social media that many individuals made commitments to their faith, with 78 getting baptized at T. Ed Garrison Arena in Pendleton.
“About 6,000 students united for a common cause at Clemson,” Prewett mentioned on Wednesday, expressing excitement about the number of people who chose to follow Jesus. She also highlighted her own experience of being baptized, calling it a powerful moment.
At the event, Bryce Crawford, a missionary and Christian content creator, emphasized that “following Jesus isn’t a burden; rather, it’s liberating.”
Crosswalk Headlines noted that nearly 6,000 students from North Carolina participated in UniteUS events just the week prior.
This fall alone, UniteUS has seen over 40,000 college students join their activities, with notable attendance figures from various universities: 5,500 at the University of Cincinnati, 7,000 at Grand Canyon University, 8,000 at the University of Tennessee, 7,000 at the University of South Florida, and 9,000 at the University of Oklahoma.
UniteUS began in 2023 following a large worship event at Auburn University’s Neville Arena on September 12.
The ministry outlines its goals for each gathering as salvation, freedom, and community, according to its website.
Prewett reflected, “When I envisioned Unite Auburn, I never anticipated how significant it would be. After the Auburn event, witnessing thousands baptized while praising God—it was incredible. This movement just keeps going.”
Her husband, Chad Prewett, a former assistant coach at Auburn University, mentioned in September that since UniteUS started, around 110,000 college students have participated across 18 campuses, with over 16,000 having given their lives to Christ.
“All glory belongs to God,” he remarked.
