Massive Evangelistic Event at Angel Stadium
On Saturday night, around 6,500 individuals made a profession of faith during a major evangelistic gathering that filled Angel Stadium. Normally, the stadium buzzes with baseball fans cheering for the Anaheim Angels, but this time, the scene changed dramatically. Thousands walked down the aisles as Pastor Greg Laurie called them to embrace the gospel message.
With 45,500 attendees in total, the event reached beyond the stadium walls too. Over 500 radio stations aired the gathering, and approximately 200,000 people tuned in online. Celebrated Christian artists, including Chris Tomlin and Brooke Ligertwood, delivered uplifting performances throughout the evening.
Laurie shared a personal story, reflecting on his son Christopher’s tragic passing at 33. He emphasized, “I think we’ll all live forever,” which resonated deeply with the audience. He then posed a poignant question: “Are you ready to meet God tonight?” His invitation prompted a significant outpouring, leading to the eventual closure of field access due to the overwhelming response. Organizers described it as “one of the best reactions” they’ve seen in over 35 years of hosting the event.
To accommodate those who couldn’t get into the fields, QR codes were displayed on the stadium screen. This way, participants could still access information and resources, including the Bible.
Laurie, who leads the Harvest Church, noted a profound spiritual hunger in California. He expressed hope for another awakening in the state, famously known as the Golden State. “I have not given up on California,” he mentioned emphatically, looking forward to what God might still do there.
On social media, he called the night “a taste of heaven” and reflected on the impressive movement of faith that unfolded. “What an unforgettable night at Angel Stadium! God has appeared as usual in a grand way, pouring out his spirit,” he shared. He encouraged prayers for those who invited Christ into their lives, wishing for their faith to grow strong.
