An 85-year-old mother in Idaho was attacked in her home by an intruder, but she outsmarted him, retrieved a .357 Magnum revolver, and shot her to save her disabled son.
of new york post report On April 10, 2024, Bingham County Prosecutor Ryan Jolly announced the findings of an investigation that found the mother’s actions were clearly to protect herself and her son.

Gene Ian was woken at 2 a.m. by an intruder, Derek Condon, who stood over her and pointed a 9mm handgun at her. After beating her and bleeding her, the man took her to her living room, handcuffed her to a chair, and demanded her valuables.
The mother did not mention that her son with a disability was at home, hoping it would keep him safe. She then told Mr. Condon that there was a safe downstairs where he could find valuables. When he went downstairs to check on her, she dragged her chair with him to where she kept the revolver, retrieved it, and waited for Condon to come back upstairs.
Realizing that her disabled son was at home, he returned furious.
Seeing her moment, Geneian grabbed a revolver and shot Condon twice. He fired back, shooting her in the arm, leg, chest and abdomen. But Ms Condon’s wounds then compounded and she struggled to the kitchen, where she died.
