A nine-month-old infant who was stabbed during a knife attack at a shopping mall in Sydney, Australia, has been safely released from hospital.

“The girl suffered injuries to her chest and arm and underwent surgery at Sydney Children’s Hospital.” BBC report.
On Sunday, New South Wales Health Minister Ryan Park posted a statement about the child’s release, hours before a candlelight vigil was held for the victims of the knife attack.
“In a positive development, we can confirm that a child who was being treated at Sydney Children’s Hospital following the tragic events at Bondi Junction last weekend has been discharged home,” he said in a statement. “She continues to receive care from specialist clinicians at Sydney Children’s Hospital.”
The baby’s mother, Ashley Goode, 38, was also stabbed by assailant Joel Couch, 40, during the attack.
After she found out what had happened to her and went into a state of shock, she immediately threw the baby away to a bystander, who subsequently bled to death.
“[Joel] The attacker’s father, Andrew Couch, said: “He wanted a girlfriend, but he had no social skills and was mentally frustrated.”
Six people were killed in the attack.
The victims of the attack were Dawn Singleton, 25, the daughter of billionaire businessman John Singleton, mother-of-two Jade Young, 47, Pikuria Dalquia, 55, and Chinese national Yixuan Chen. (27) and security guard Faraz Tahir (30).
Tahir died trying to protect nearby shoppers, while his colleague Mohammad Taha was stabbed in the abdomen. Mr Taha is currently recovering in hospital and the government is awarding the Pakistani national permanent residency in Australia for his heroic efforts.
A NSW Health spokesperson said six patients were still being treated in hospital for their injuries. Two of the victims are currently in stable condition at St Vincent’s Hospital, while two other patients are admitted to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Meanwhile, one female victim is in intensive care in a serious but stable condition.
Sydney authorities said: “Another female patient remains in a stable condition in a ward at Royal North Shore Hospital.”
Couch, a deranged assailant, was shot dead by Inspector Amy Scott, who charged at the knifeman without any assistance.
