Charlie Kirk was seen by many Americans as a key conservative voice engaged in public discourse. Yet, for those intimate with his journey, he was also a committed Christian who valued the Bible and advocated for truths he deemed vital for societal well-being.
Just days before his tragic assassination, he shared a message on X (formerly Twitter) that read, “Jesus Defeated Death so that you can live.”
In the lead-up to 2024, Kirk was engaged in interviews with figures like Russell Brand.
– “Honestly, I have nothing without Jesus. I recognize my shortcomings before God. I dedicated my life to the Lord back in fifth grade.”
In a discussion with skeptic Bill Maher in 2025, Kirk reflected on his belief in the Bible.
“China faced an anti-Christian campaign, and the Soviet Union had a particularly harsh one… Do you genuinely believe it’s the ideal environment for humanity? I’m inclined to believe the Bible holds the answer… It narrates the essential needs and story of human redemption, which even atheists should consider.”
Kirk spoke in April 2025 about the benefits of a religious society.
“I believe a religious framework benefits everyone. If a person walks around acknowledging they’re not God, they tend to behave as a better citizen.”
During another debate with atheists, Kirk made a thought-provoking argument.
“I assert that you have more faith than I do. Your faith is almost blind, believing that emotions like love, joy, and sorrow are merely neural firings in the brain… We hold onto hope of seeing our loved ones again.”
In an interview with Milledgeville, Kirk discussed the Bible’s historical significance.
“Some of history’s greatest minds, like Isaac Newton and Thomas Aquinas, were captivated by the Bible. Newton, in fact, composed more writings on biblical prophecies than on physics.”
Kirk elaborated on conservative goals in a conversation with Deseret News.
“The aim must be to guide people back to the church, to foster faith, to encourage marriage and family life. That’s the conservatism I embody, and I want to offer a vision that not only channels my frustrations but also uplifts others.”
In discussions with Maher again, he addressed belief in God.
“It defies logic to think this is all mere chance. The emergence of a baby, our capacity to heal, even consciousness itself—it all seems miraculous. Viewing it merely as a series of fortunate accidents feels less reasonable than recognizing it as a purposeful design.”
Just four days before his assassination on September 6, 2025.
“Jesus will defeat death and you can live.”
Kirk later spoke about his legacy.
“I hope to be remembered for having the courage to stand by my faith. It really is the most significant aspect of my life.”
Kirk on how he wishes to be remembered.
Question: “What do you want to be remembered for?”
Kirk: “I want to be remembered for the courage of my faith. That’s the most important thing.”
