Tragic Incident at Hershey Park Water Park
A 9-year-old child tragically died after visiting the water park at Hershey Park in Pennsylvania on Thursday.
According to officials, lifeguards acted quickly upon realizing that the child was struggling at the park’s boardwalk, which is known for its water attractions.
John Lorne, the CEO of Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, expressed his sorrow in a statement, noting, “Tonight, a 9-year-old guest tragically lost on the Hershey Park boardwalk.”
Lifeguards provided immediate assistance, and efforts were supported by on-site responders and healthcare professionals. Despite these efforts, the child was transported to the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center but was later pronounced dead. At this moment, the cause of death remains unclear.
“Our hearts are broken for this child and the family,” Lorne continued, extending condolences for their loss.
Details surrounding the incident are limited, and the child’s identity has not been disclosed to respect family privacy.
The boardwalk offers a range of 16 water attractions, including the “White Cap Racer,” a Matt Racing Water Slide, and a large wave pool known as “The Shore,” which holds 378,000 gallons of water.
Lorne mentioned that the company will be conducting internal reviews and cooperating fully with authorities to investigate the circumstances of this tragic event.
He further reassured visitors, stating that safety is a priority at Hershey Park. “Every family visiting knows this: your safety and happiness drive every decision we make,” Lorne said. The company plans to thoroughly investigate the incident to improve guest safety moving forward.
