‘90210’ star Ian Ziering says it’s ‘tough’ to keep kids grounded in today’s ‘environment’

‘Beverly Hills, 90210’ alum Ian Ziering may have made his Hollywood debut years ago, but he finds it difficult to keep his two daughters ‘grounded’ in today’s world .

Ziering, who has two daughters with ex-wife Erin Ludwig, told Fox News Digital at Sunday’s Los Angeles Mission x Easter Celebration that there are downsides to raising children in a digital world. .

“Brother, it’s hard to keep young girls on their feet in this environment,” he explained. “It’s very difficult to keep kids grounded in a fragmented TV environment with social media and the ability to watch content on your watch if you want.”

Ian explained that while he can’t control what his daughters see online, he can put it into their context.

“It’s hard. You know, there are different demons on every level. For me, it’s just putting things into context. I don’t have the ability to stop them or protect them from what they’re exposed to. You can’t. There’s no way.

“I can put it in context, and I think that’s where I’ll do the best I can. Ian said he will definitely have a “Plan B” for his daughters Mia and Pena if they want to follow in their father’s footsteps and pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

“My little one, Pena, she’s so dramatic,” he said. “She loves participating in school plays. If it helps her with a career in the entertainment industry, I’ll support it.”

Ziering said her eldest daughter, Mia, is different from her younger sister.

“The other Mia likes music and she likes architecture. It’s a completely different skill set,” he said. “Whatever she prefers, I’ll support it, but whatever they choose, I’m going to make sure they have a plan B.”

Ian spoke to FOX News Digital on March 29 at the Los Angeles Mission’s Easter Sunday Celebration. She and her two daughters, Denise Richards and Nick Cannon, were preparing meals for the homeless.

Ziering views his act of service as spending “some of the celebrity capital” he has earned throughout his career.

“I think it’s important to give back. If I wasn’t a celebrity, I’d probably still be here. I’m not really happy with that title,” he said. “But acknowledging that, this is a very good way to be an example to some and an inspiration to others. Show them that it can be very rewarding, even if it is, it’s very noble and it means a lot to the other person receiving it.”

Ziering said being with her daughters during the holidays shows “gratitude, empathy and appreciation.”
