Tragic Deaths of Ohio Dentist and Wife Investigated
The wife of an Ohio dentist, who was later discovered murdered, reportedly did not call 911 to report a “domestic dispute” prior to his death, as indicated by the family. Instead, the call came from a guest who was at the couple’s house party.
Authorities were dispatched to a residence in Columbus, Ohio, around 10 a.m. on December 30, where they found 37-year-old Spencer Tepe and his 39-year-old wife, Monique, dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Their two young children were inside the home but unharmed. Police are not considering the deaths a suicide; they noted no signs of forced entry and have yet to locate a murder weapon. Detectives suspect the murders took place between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. on December 30.
A 911 call recorded by Fox News Digital features an unknown woman who was present at the party when Spencer and Monique were killed. In the call made at 2:45 a.m. on April 15, 2025, the woman stated, “Me and my man got involved.” During the call, she was heard crying and eventually insisted that police were unnecessary.
Rob Misley, Spencer’s brother-in-law, mentioned on a podcast that it wasn’t Monique who made the 911 call, but rather someone else at the party.
Background on the Incident
Misley explained that from listening to the call, it’s clear the voice didn’t belong to Monique. He pointed out that attendees of the party recalled this incident occurring, with one woman seemingly distraught, possibly experiencing mental health struggles at the time. “I think sometimes people get a little drunk at parties like this,” he said.

A dispatcher categorized the call as a “domestic dispute” and later noted that assistance was “no longer needed.”
As of now, no suspects have been arrested in the case of Spencer and Monique’s deaths. However, the Columbus Police Department has released surveillance footage showing a “person of interest” walking in an alley near their house during the early hours of December 30.
Initially, Mark Valrose, Spencer’s employer at Athens Dental Depot, called 911 to request a welfare check after the dentist failed to show up for work.
By 10:03 a.m., a friend of Spencer confirmed to the 911 operator that he could see a body in the home. He described the grim scene, stating, “There’s a dead body… it looks like he’s dead. He’s off the bed and lying next to the bed, covered in blood.”
In a statement released by the couple’s family, they expressed that they were “heartbroken beyond words,” labeling the deaths as “tragic and senseless.” They described Spencer as a devoted father and loving partner, cherished by all who knew him. Likewise, Monique was remembered as a “loving, patient, and fun mother” whose warmth was a defining trait.
Misley further noted that the couple had married in 2021 and were approaching their fifth wedding anniversary next month.
