David Shane, a former attorney for the late Jeffrey Epstein, stated on Tuesday that President Trump and Attorney General Pam Bondi were not holding back any so-called client list of questionable financiers.
Shane, who was instrumental in securing a plea deal for Epstein regarding state prostitution charges in 2008, suggested that the demand to unveil names was based on misconceptions.
“I doubt there’s any client list at all. It certainly wasn’t with Jeffrey Epstein,” he remarked during an appearance on NewsNation’s “Cuomo.”
He also mentioned that Epstein had “no plan” to blackmail anyone within his circle.
Investigations revealed that authorities had obtained around 300 gigabytes of data from the deceased investor, containing explicit images of minors, victim names along with their details such as physical descriptions, birthplaces, social circles, and employment records.
A memo released in July by the Department of Justice and the FBI faced criticism for concluding that Epstein did not keep a client list and that his death in a New York City jail was a suicide.
“I get that people are deeply interested in this,” Shane shared with host Chris Cuomo. “It piques my curiosity, but honestly, I doubt there’s anything significant there.”
Shane explained that Epstein’s connections with high-profile individuals fueled speculation. “Just because he knew people like Bill Richardson or others doesn’t mean they were up to anything illegal with him,” he noted, adding, “But that doesn’t stop rumors from swirling.”
He further pointed out that the accuser sought a degree of privacy, which is why the judge decided to keep certain files confidential.
Alan Delschshotz, another former lawyer for Epstein, also stated he never had a client list but acknowledged that one accuser had named a wealthy individual in their affidavit.
“Some accusers have named various people for inappropriate conduct, but those names have been obscured. I’ve done my research, so I know who they are,” Delschshotz explained. “Some were in public office; others have passed away. But there’s no formal client list.”
Meanwhile, the controversy surrounding the file has stirred unrest within the GOP. Trump and Bondi have emphasized the conclusions drawn in the memo, with the President encouraging his supporters to move past the issue. “I honestly don’t get why the interest persists. He’s been gone a while. He wasn’t a significant figure, really,” Trump remarked to reporters after an event in Pennsylvania.
