Selfish Bridezilla Kicks Pregnant Friend Out of Wedding
It’s astonishing how selfish some people can be, isn’t it?
In a rather extreme example of bride behavior, a soon-to-be bride uninvited a friend from her wedding because, well, she’s pregnant. One frustrated friend took to the infamous r/bridezillas subreddit to share her dismay after losing her maid of honor title because she’s four months along.
The original poster (OP) described how her best friend got engaged two years ago and began planning her big day. The two had a close friendship; they even spent several days a week together. “When I asked about the wedding, she hesitated,” the OP recounted. “Then she said, ‘Well, I think it’s best if you don’t come.’” Naturally, this left the OP in shock.
She continued, “It caught me completely off guard, and I had to ask her why.” While her friend claimed she was happy for the OP’s pregnancy, the bride seemed to feel that having a visibly pregnant woman at the altar would shift focus away from her and make it all about the baby instead of the wedding.
The OP was clearly hurt by this decision—who wouldn’t be, right? She shared her story in hopes of advice and support, garnering sympathy from countless Reddit users who validated her feelings.
Some commenters shared their experiences too. “When my cousin married, I was 7.5 months pregnant, and no one batted an eye!” one said. Another remarked, “If this is true, then this self-absorbed person doesn’t deserve to be in your life. Protect your happiness and that of your family.” There was certainly a consensus that the bride’s anxiety was a bit much.
This isn’t the first instance of a bride being overly concerned about her day. Another bride was criticized online for intentionally selecting a “less attractive” woman as a bridesmaid to ensure she stood out more.
In a shared experience, the sister of a bride noted how their actual best friend was overlooked for someone deemed “nasty” or “not photogenic.” When confronted about her choice, the bride laughed it off, suggesting it was all about not letting anyone distract from her special moment.
