Employee Arrested for Allegedly Threatening to Kill Marjorie Taylor Greene and Her Staff

Former Employee Arrested for Threats Against Rep. Greene

On Thursday, law enforcement took a former employee into custody amid accusations of making several threatening calls aimed at Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene and her staff.

Seth Jason, 45, has been charged with serious offenses related to interstate communications with the intent to prompt harm against family members. The Department of Justice confirmed that Jason was arrested early this morning by the Capitol Police and the Anne Arundel Police Department.

The indictment alleges that between October 2023 and January 2025, Jason made eight threatening phone calls to Greene’s district offices located in Dalton and Rome, Georgia.

In response to the threats, Greene expressed her concerns, stating, “For 15 months, I was subjected to a horrifying death threat from one individual who had worked in an American voice incredibly close to my office building. Such persistent targeted harassment is deeply disturbing. It is not free speech to threaten an elected official, his family, or staff. It is a crime and must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. My family and I are extremely grateful. I have to serve justice.”

If convicted, Jason could face a maximum of 10 years in prison for threatening a federal official’s family. Additionally, he could receive up to five years for making interstate communications involving a threat of injury. Accusations of telecommunications harassment could result in two years of imprisonment. The court will determine his sentence based on U.S. sentencing guidelines if he is found guilty.

Given the rise of political violence, authorities are particularly vigilant regarding such threats. This includes the tragic shooting of Democratic Minnesota Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband in a politically motivated attack. The suspect in that case, Vance Luther Boerter, was apprehended after a nearly two-day manhunt in rural Minnesota.

Voice of America has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the situation.
