The host of the “Late Show” on CBS, which is slated to conclude in May 2026 for financial reasons, will join Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello. Together, they’ll commemorate the 25th anniversary of their beloved series “Strangers with Candy,” which was canceled after its original run.
This quirky comedy had three seasons and a total of 30 episodes, depicting the misadventures of high school freshman Gerbilance (played by Sedaris). With her character being a sort of outcast, she encounters various dramatic challenges. Colbert portrayed Chuck Noblett, a history teacher who kept his true self hidden, while Dinello took on the role of an arts instructor named Jeffrey Jelinek.
The reunion is planned as part of the 2025 New York Comedy Festival. The event, which runs from November 7th to 16th, will feature other notable performers, including Louis CK, Hannah Burner, Pete Holmes, Margaret Cho, and Chris Fleming.
Festival founder Caroline Hirsch has expressed her enthusiasm about the lineup, emphasizing the mix of seasoned and emerging comedians that reflect the current landscape of comedy. She’s dedicated to keeping New York City as a significant hub for the art form.
