Red Sox Manager Enjoys Concert During All-Star Break
During the recent All-Star break, one MLB manager had quite the memorable evening. Alex Cora, the Red Sox manager, spent Wednesday night attending a concert with friends at Gillette Stadium.
And yes, it was the Coldplay concert everyone was buzzing about.
Cora’s attendance at the show became notable when CEO Andy Byron and HR chief Christine Cabot were arrested in connection with a situation involving the Jumbotron at the Patriots’ stadium.
Speaking to reporters at Wrigley Field on Friday, Cora shared that the concert was an enjoyable experience.
“I was actually at the Wednesday Coldplay concert,” he noted. “It was fun.” This concert had been on the radar for some time, with Cora mentioning that plans had been laid out back in December. He’d previously experienced Coldplay shows and was eager to see them again.
He looked into it and found out the band was playing near Boston while the Red Sox were in town, so arrangements were made.
It turns out, Cora and his friends witnessed one of the year’s most talked-about moments in real time. The duo of Byron and Cabot was caught in a hug on the Jumbotron, and both tried to dodge the camera’s lens when they realized they were on display.
The company of the astronomers has formally launched an investigation into the incident and released a statement on Friday.
“Astronomers are committed to the values that have guided us since our founding,” the statement read. “Our leaders must uphold standards in both conduct and accountability. The board has initiated a formal investigation, with more details to follow.”
After a fun little break, Cora and the Red Sox faced off against the Cubs on Friday afternoon. Despite their efforts, they ended up losing 4-1, marking the end of their ten-game winning streak.
