Shannon Sharpe has come to a settlement regarding a $50 million lawsuit alleging rape and sexual battery.
“After lengthy and respectful discussions, we’re pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached,” stated Tony Buzbee, the attorney for the accuser. The announcement was made on Instagram.
“All matters have been appropriately resolved and the case is now closed. Consequently, the lawsuit will be dismissed with prejudice.”
The specific details of the settlement haven’t been disclosed.
A representative for Sharpe did not provide a comment when contacted.
The lawsuit, initially filed in April by an individual only identified as Jane Doe, claimed Sharpe, 56, assaulted her several times between late 2024 and early 2025.
The complaint states that the two met at a Los Angeles gym in 2023, and despite being in their mid-50s, they entered a tumultuous relationship.
Doe further alleged that after their initial encounter, Sharpe began pursuing her actively, reaching out through calls, texts, and inviting her to the Beverly Glenn Mansion.
At one point, Doe’s legal team suggested that they possessed an audio recording potentially implicating Sharpe. In response, Sharpe shared a screenshot of a graphic message exchange to assert that their interactions were consensual, indicating elements of “role-playing” and “fantasy” involved.
Previously, Sharpe had categorically denied Doe’s allegations and even considered suing her for defamation. His lawyer, Lanny J. Davis, emphasized Sharpe’s stance against the accusations and expressed his readiness to defend himself against what he termed a serious false claim of “rape.” Davis stated that Sharpe aims to clear his name through legal proceedings based on facts and law.
