Meghan Markle’s Show Struggles on Netflix
Meghan Markle’s series, With Love, Meghan, was expected to be a major success, but it faded from Netflix’s top 10 just six days after its debut in March. Since then, it hasn’t made a comeback.
Recent streaming data shows that the show didn’t even make it into the top 300 most-watched programs during the first half of 2025. Other shows, like Peaky Blinders Season 2, the 2007 version of Gossip Girl, and children’s content such as Grizzly and Lemmings, have outshined it.
This lack of viewership is surprising considering the buzz surrounding Meghan and Prince Harry’s $100 million deal with Netflix.
Updates have already been made for a second season of With Love, Meghan, which is set to appear this fall, possibly featuring Chrissy Teigen. The situation seems even more disappointing when compared to other Netflix offerings during the same period; the British drama Puberty racked up an impressive 145 million views, while Housing was canceled after just one season, attracting 33 million.
The reviews haven’t been favorable either. The Guardian described it as “toe-curling TV,” while The Telegraph labeled it “narcissism in practice.” Viewers seem to agree, with the show holding a 36% score on Rotten Tomatoes and a low 3.2 rating on IMDb.
Comedian Christina Pazsitzky, known as Christina P, took a jab at the show on TikTok, saying, “She’s an actress now playing the role of a human, and it’s not going well.” She remarked that Meghan seems overly focused on perfection, which, to her, comes off as inauthentic.
Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, also criticized her for dropping the “Sussex” title in her branding efforts.
Yet, it’s not all doom and gloom. Some viewers stuck around; Netflix data indicates an average watch time of 4.47 hours across eight half-hour episodes, suggesting some commitment from the audience.
While the show may not have resonated with many, Meghan’s associated product line enjoyed a successful launch, selling out in just hours. This might be one reason Netflix continues to engage with them.
On Prince Harry’s side, things appear even grimmer. His documentary, Polo, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at elite sports, ranked a staggering 3,436th, with around 500,000 views globally. That reportedly places it on par with reruns of He-Man and the Master of the Universe.
Netflix has not confirmed any extensions of Meghan and Harry’s contract, but insiders suggest that the second season of With Love, Meghan was filmed alongside the first, indicating that this update was more about production than about viewer success.
As one source from Netflix put it, “It’s not a runaway success.”
