Bristol Palin Shares Update on Health Struggles
Bristol Palin is keeping her followers informed about her ongoing health issues. During a recent Q&A session on Instagram, she addressed questions regarding her experience with facial paralysis, specifically how she copes with the symptoms leading to muscle weakness.
“I woke up one day and found my face completely paralyzed out of nowhere. There was no prior warning. I wasn’t under the weather, I hadn’t had any vaccinations or Botox recently… I was just suddenly paralyzed,” she explained. This revelation was accompanied by a video highlighting the differences between the two sides of her face, timestamped for January 20, 2025.
In another case, TV personality Brandi Granville rushed to the hospital while dealing with a similar, mysterious illness affecting her face.
Fans expressed their concerns about the possibility of permanent paralysis. However, Bristol reassured them, saying, “I don’t think it would be permanent.” She also mentioned feeling that her facial function has improved, estimating that she is back to about 70% of her normal state.
“It’s getting better gradually,” she noted in her responses, adding that her doctor also remains hopeful for a return to normalcy. She first revealed her condition on Instagram in January, recalling the day she experienced an odd feeling in her face that quickly escalated to the left side becoming fully paralyzed.
After consulting with her doctor and undergoing multiple tests, she was advised to take steroids and other medications. Doctors speculated that she might be experiencing Bell’s palsy, a condition characterized by sudden weakness in one side of the face, potentially triggered by stress or lack of sleep.
Bristol reiterated that while her condition has been challenging, she has also embraced a year of sobriety, which she announced in an April 2025 post. “It sounds dramatic because I wasn’t really a heavy drinker,” she clarified.
Having achieved a calm mindset this past year has allowed her to reflect on a lot of important aspects of her life. “I don’t want to change my current state of mind; it feels right,” she expressed, recommending the mental clarity she’s found to others.
