John Parry Achieves First Hole-in-One at the Open

On Saturday, John Parry celebrated hitting his very first hole-in-one during the third round of the Open Championship at Royal Portrush. It happened on the 13th hole, where he used an eight-iron to cover 192 yards. The ball struck the green, bounced a couple of times, and then found its way into the hole.

As he celebrated, Parry took off his hat, paying homage to his playing partner, Justin Leonard. It seems this moment might not be just a simple occurrence; Parry speculated that it could be the tenth hole-in-one of his career. “Without a doubt, the best one,” he remarked after the feat.

Reflecting on the shot, he said he felt confident that it would land well after he hit it. “It was a solid strike. There was a good window to aim for,” he noted, adding that the pitch was a little trickier than he initially assessed.

Interestingly, Emiliano Grillo made a hole-in-one on the same hole six years ago when the tournament was held at Royal Portrush.

Currently, Parry is three under par for the tournament, following a strong performance of four-under 67 on Saturday. “It was fantastic. Hitting a hole-in-one is just incredible—the energy was something else,” he shared post-round.

At the time of this report, Scotty Scheffler held the lead in the tournament, sitting at twelve under par.
