Bristol Palin is sharing updates about her ongoing health challenges.
In a recent Q&A on Instagram, she responded to questions about her experience with facial paralysis, particularly what symptoms she notices before the weakness sets in.
She described waking up one day to find her face completely paralyzed, with no prior signs. “There was no warning. I wasn’t sick and I didn’t get a vaccine,” she clarified.
This response accompanied a video highlighting the difference between the left and right sides of her face, dated January 20, 2025.
When asked how she copes emotionally with the diagnosis, Palin mentioned that her paralysis has now returned to about 70% normal.
Some fans expressed worries that the paralysis might be permanent. To this, Palin reassured them, saying, “But I don’t think it will be.”
She noted in her reply, “It’s slowly improving. My doctors believe it will take another three months before I fully feel back to normal.”
Palin initially informed her followers in January that she was dealing with sudden facial paralysis.
In her story, she recounted waking up with an odd sensation in her face, which quickly escalated to complete paralysis on the left side just hours later.
Following a visit to her doctor and several tests, she received no definitive answers but was prescribed steroids and other medications.
Doctors suggested that it might be a case of Bell’s paralysis, potentially triggered by stress or lack of sleep.
Bell’s paralysis induces sudden weakness in one side of the face, as noted by the Mayo Clinic, and the cause typically remains unclear.
A few months after revealing her facial paralysis struggles, she returned to social media in April 2025, celebrating a milestone of being alcohol-free for a year.
“365 days without alcohol… Sounds dramatic because I wasn’t a heavy drinker,” she explained in her Instagram story. “But having a completely calm mind this year has allowed me to reevaluate a lot. I don’t want to change my state of mind, and I don’t want to remove the edges off anything. I recommend it 10/10.”
