Astronomer CEO steps down following popular concert 'kiss cam' video

Astronomer CEO Andy Byron has stepped down, with the announcement made on Saturday, following a situation that unfolded at a Coldplay concert. Reports indicate he was seen on camera with the company’s head of personnel during the event.

The news was confirmed on the Astronomer LinkedIn page, stating, “As mentioned earlier, astronomers are committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our start. Our leaders need to uphold standards in conduct and accountability, which have not been met recently.”

Earlier, it was noted that Byron’s appointment had been announced on social media during the holiday season.

Interestingly, Byron has not commented on any online “fake apologies” that emerged subsequently. There’s also clarification that senior employee Alyssa Stoddard was not at the concert, contrary to what some reports suggested.

A video that surfaced on TikTok captured the moment Byron and the HR head were caught on the concert’s kiss cam, prompting some laughter as they tried to cover their faces. Although it appears that the head of HR was identified, the company has not publicly addressed that aspect.

During the concert, Coldplay’s Chris Martin joked about the situation, adding a lighthearted tone as the audience erupted in laughter. For now, Pete DeJoy will oversee operations until a permanent CEO is found.
