Pat Tillman's sibling taken into custody following accident that ignited fire at post office

Pat Tillman, the former NFL star and Army ranger, was involved in a car accident early Sunday morning that led to a fire at a post office in San Jose. Police responded to the scene around 3 AM local time, finding that a vehicle had crashed into the building and ignited a blaze.

Richard Tillman, believed to be Pat’s brother, was arrested in connection with the incident. Upon arriving, officers learned that Richard also identified himself as being related to Pat Tillman and mentioned he had livestreamed the event on social media.

According to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, Richard was booked on Sunday, although the exact charges remain unclear. He is currently without bail and is set to appear in court on July 23rd.

Authorities from the San Jose Police Department, alongside arson investigators and US postal inspectors, are looking into the circumstances surrounding the fire.

Pat Tillman, known for leaving his NFL career to enlist in the Army following the September 11 attacks, served multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan before he was tragically killed in 2004. Initially reported to have died in enemy fire, it was later revealed that he was a victim of friendly fire, a conclusion that the Pentagon clarified in 2007.
