GOP criticizes AOC for ridiculing Stefanik in New York

Political Tensions in Plattsburgh

Plattsburgh, N.Y. — Republicans have criticized Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for being “terrifying” during a town hall event featuring Rep. Elise Stefanik in the Upstate region.

Ocasio-Cortez quickly entered the political fray at the gathering, which was meant to respond to President Trump’s “one big beautiful bill.” Stefanik was on a farewell tour, anticipating a potential role as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

“Elise has toured for her farewell, and I think it’s time to finish the job,” said AOC to an excited audience at the historic Strand Theatre.

“Let’s show her the door. She’s not welcome here anymore,” AOC emphasized, standing nearly 300 miles away from her home districts of the Bronx and Queens.

Stefanik was reportedly removed from her position by President Trump, who feared Democrats could capture her seat; she is now pursuing a run for governor.

“AOC and Democrat Paul Tonko may enjoy taxing their constituents, but that doesn’t mean they should come to the North and push a tired, failed agenda,” said a GOP representative.

Other Republican leaders dismissed Ocasio-Cortez’s appearance.

“As always, AOC is beyond parody. Unlike her, Stefanik genuinely represents her district,” remarked a New York Republican Committee spokesperson, taking aim at AOC’s claims of being a “Bronx girl.”

“North Country is Elise’s territory, Trump’s territory, and it will stay that way,” added another GOP member.

AOC expressed her affection for the Adirondacks during the event, sporting a white button-down and black cuffed pants, insisting she’s a passionate backpacker.

“The Republicans will never recover from this,” stated Michael Cracker, chairman of the Erie County GOP, sharing his thoughts on social media.

A representative of Stefanik questioned whether AOC had received the message that she wasn’t welcome in the district, stating that the situation only serves to strengthen Stefanik’s backing in upstate New York.

The event was co-hosted by Tonko, who welcomed AOC, referring to her as “Alex” in a friendly tone.

“They say she’s the future of the party. I say she’s the present at today’s party,” Tonko remarked.
