Couple Arrested for Unusual Behavior in Stolen RV

A curious incident in West Virginia has led to the arrest of a couple reportedly found in compromising positions. It all began on July 2nd, when a patrol officer from the Bluefield Police Station conducted a traffic stop involving a recreational vehicle around 12:23 PM.

The officer noted that the driver didn’t respond to the emergency lights initially and maintained a “rolling pace” of roughly half a mile. Witnesses mentioned that occupants of the RV had “switched seats” during the incident.

Once the vehicle was finally halted, 35-year-old Shannon Bryant was found behind the wheel, while 48-year-old Matthew McDonnell occupied the passenger seat. The officer reported observing a naked woman straddling the male driver while the RV was still in motion.

“I questioned them about their behavior while driving,” the officer recounted.

Bryant seemed significantly intoxicated, according to the officer’s assessment. McDonnell later admitted that both were naked and attempting to engage in sexual activity during the drive. He also confessed to switching seats after noticing the police, despite being aware that Bryant was disabled at the time.

Additionally, a K-9 unit indicated potential drug presence in the RV. Upon searching, officers discovered items such as a glass pipe with white residue, bags containing white powder, and materials consistent with marijuana use.

When checking the vehicle’s VIN and registration, they found that the RV had been reported stolen in Princeton, approximately 10 miles away from where it was stopped. Officers performed a sobriety test on Bryant, which suggested significant impairment.

After being taken to WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital for a toxicology screening, Bryant claimed that McDonnell had disposed of items indicating their offenses shortly before being pulled over. Subsequent searches led police to recover several of these items at the scene.

Bryant now faces several charges, including illegal possession of controlled substances, DUI drugs, obscene exposure, and possession of a stolen vehicle. McDonnell is facing similar charges as well, including unlawful possession and permitting DUI.

Reports indicate that McDonnell had a prior unpaid arrest warrant from Tazewell County in Virginia. He is currently held at Southern Regional Prison with an $8,000 bond.

Both individuals have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
