Leader of DOJ Antisemitism Task Force: 'Trump Supports You'

Justice Department’s Commitment to Jewish Students

Leo Terrell, who directs the Justice Department’s Task Force, reached out to Jewish students nationwide on Sunday, assuring them that President Trump is supportive and committed to eradicating anti-Semitism in schools and universities. His administration is taking an active stance against harassment aimed at Jewish students.

In a video shared on social media, Terrell stated this commitment marks a significant federal response designed to protect Jewish students from kindergarten through university level from anti-Semitism. He serves as a senior attorney general counsel for civil rights.

“President Trump has your back,” Terrell stated in his message. He emphasized that ensuring a safe environment free from anti-Semitism goes beyond just the president’s advocacy but is an integral part of the administration’s agenda.

The task force is prioritizing the elimination of anti-Semitic harassment on campuses, an initiative that follows an executive order from President Trump issued earlier this year that specifically addresses the issue of anti-Semitism.

Describing himself as a “big Trump supporter,” Terrell underlined the personal nature of this commitment. He reassured students that they should feel safe pursuing quality education without the threat of hatred or bullying.

He concluded the message with a promise that Jewish students would enjoy the freedoms associated with living in America, expressing his hopes for blessings over the nation, President Trump, and the Jewish community.

The Task Force has already initiated visits to ten university campuses that have reported incidents of anti-Semitism since October 2023, marking a significant escalation in federal oversight regarding these complaints.

This message comes amidst ongoing concerns regarding anti-Semitism on campuses. Reports indicate a somewhat complex situation: while there might be a decrease in violent attacks, online harassment and various forms of anti-Semitism still significantly impact Jewish students across the country.

Terrell brings considerable legal expertise to his role, leveraging his background as an experienced lawyer while focusing on civil rights enforcement within the Justice Department.

The administration’s approach signals a stronger federal involvement in addressing cases of anti-Semitism on campuses, with Terrell showcasing how the Department of Justice plans to use its full authority to confront harassment and discrimination against Jewish students in educational institutions throughout the nation.
