Caitlin Clark sits out another game at Barclays because of a groin injury

Fans of the Liberty might be gearing up for a potential playoff showdown featuring Kate Rinklark in Brooklyn this season.

The Fever star missed a 98-84 loss to the Liberty at Barclays Center, dealing with a right groin injury.

Last week, the Liberty competed against the Fever before the All-Star break, but Clark was sidelined because of her injury. It’s a letdown for the attendees at Barclays Center who hoped to see some of the league’s top talent.

Earlier in the season, the Liberty had a match against a healthy Clark, but they split the two games, both held in Indiana.

Fever coach Stephanie White hasn’t provided a timeline for Clark’s return yet.

This past Monday and Tuesday, Clark consulted with doctors to get further assessment on her injuries.

She’s had to miss the All-Star Game and the 3-point contest due to her injury struggles.

This season, her performance has been significantly impacted by multiple injuries.

With Tuesday’s game included, Clark has only participated in 13 games out of the Fever’s 24 this season.

The Liberty was aiming to finally be at full strength, but Nyara Sabbary was downgraded before Tuesday’s matchup.

She didn’t take part in the shootaround that morning.

Coach Sandy Brondello mentioned that they are proceeding cautiously regarding Sabbary’s knee, which has been an issue for her earlier in the season.

In a separate note, Sabrina Ionescu was among the players making a statement during the CBA negotiations between the league and its players, donning shirts with the phrase “We’ll pay what you owe us” prior to the All-Star Game.

She shared insights on Tuesday’s decision-making process:

“We’re in the room to understand the importance for not just top players, but also for mid-tier and new players. We need to find common ground that accommodates everyone, which can be challenging during negotiations. It’s vital to consider how these decisions will impact the rest of the league moving forward, rather than just focusing on individual player demands.”
