Golf can sometimes feel pretty lonely. It’s, after all, an individual sport.

Sure, at the professional level, PGA Tour players have a whole team behind them. They practically have an entourage just to help manage their day-to-day activities, which go well beyond just playing the game.

Yet, the truth remains: golf is tough, and often you find yourself losing more than you win. This realization can be a heavy burden, especially for those climbing the ranks and facing various challenges along the way.

Maybe it was during a moment of reflection on that journey that Morikawa shared an Instagram post after last week’s Open Championship. As a former Golfer of the Year, he sets the bar high for himself. He’s one of the best out there, and when you don’t meet those expectations, feelings can surface. In his post, he mentioned how crucial his support team is during these tougher times.

This kind of honesty is really refreshing. Even those of us who play casually get how the game can bring out strong emotions. So, seeing someone with Morikawa’s talent express frustration makes it easy to relate.

Thanks to the folks at US Bank, I was able to dive into Colin’s mindset this past week (and his role in Happy Gilmore 2)… more on that later. I’ve spoken with plenty of athletes over the years, but Colin’s perspective seems particularly unique. You can catch the full discussion below.

Colin is appreciative of his lifestyle, but he finds it frustrating at times since he’s inherently competitive. Thankfully, he has a solid support system made up of family and friends who really back him up. We can all relate to that, right?

And honestly, it didn’t hurt that Colin made a joke about how, after his experience at Royal Portrush, he and others had been invited to New York for the premiere of Happy Gilmore 2. Fans have been buzzing since the news broke, and they can catch the film on Netflix starting Friday.

In conjunction with this new release, Colin, as a US Bank ambassador, has crafted a fun campaign that includes all the elements golf fans adore. Check it out.

If you’ve seen the first film, you get all the inside jokes that pop up in this campaign. It’s a clever way to build anticipation for Friday’s launch.

But creating a campaign like this isn’t a small feat, especially when you’re working with some big names. This is where US Bank CMO Michael LaCorazza played a key role in getting the whole project off the ground. He was gracious enough to discuss how it all began, how the details were coordinated, and the execution process.

As a dedicated golf fan, I’ve been super excited about the film, especially with someone like Morikawa being involved. Gaining a deeper insight into the project made it even more thrilling.

This is definitely a film that will fire up all of us!
