Alan Cumming from 'X-Men' says we need more 'Trans Heroes' as 'America has reinstated concentration camps'

Alan Cumming’s Bold Remarks on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Actor Alan Cumming hosted ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! recently, where he shared some striking comments. During his opening monologue, he made an eyebrow-raising claim about “reviving the concentration camp,” and he argued that society needs “trans heroes.”

The British actor, identifying as bisexual and atheist, approached his hosting gig with some theatrical concerns about the state of America. “America, how are you? No, really, how are you?” he asked, highlighting the country’s reintroduction of concentration camps and the impact of healthcare cuts affecting millions. He also alluded to armed militias that evoke a sense of danger.

It’s important to note, though, that the term “concentration camps” doesn’t accurately describe any facilities currently in the U.S. Cumming likely referred to deportation centers under the Trump administration, known for various issues, but concentration camps, in their historical context, were far more dire and not akin to sending individuals home.

Cumming also took a jab at the Trump family, mentioning his own Scottish roots, which segued into a comment about Donald Trump’s mother being Scottish—”Perhaps that’s why we drink so much as a country,” he added.

In a shift toward discussing trans individuals, Cumming advocated for recognizing them as national heroes. “Tonight’s show is all about superheroes,” he noted, reminding the audience of his portrayal of Nightcrawler in the X-Men films. He expressed belief in real superheroes among us, drawing parallels between trans individuals and fictional heroes who possess unique qualities that society often misunderstands or ostracizes.

He further claimed, “Trans people are here to stay,” expressing frustration about how society often treats both trans individuals and those who commit crimes. Cumming concluded this segment by suggesting that Jesus was a professional LGBTQ+ ally and an “immigrant,” alluding to his admiration for the figure despite his own atheism.

“You know, what’s not to like? A tall, gorgeous man with great abs?” he joked, critiquing hypocrisy in society with a touch of humor.
