Angel Reese from the Chicago Sky is close to suspension after receiving 7 technical fouls.

Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky is very close to facing a suspension in the WNBA due to disciplinary issues. With seven technical fouls accrued in just 22 games, the next foul will push her over the limit for a one-game suspension mandated by league rules.

This latest technical foul occurred during Tuesday’s match against the Lynx, happening in the first quarter. It seems she received the foul after a controversial interaction with a referee, which wasn’t caught on camera.

As it stands, Reese has more technical fouls than any other player in the league this season. Notably, Shakira Austin of the Washington Mystics is in the second position.

Reese picked up her first technical of the season during a match against the Indiana Fever, where a confrontation with longtime rival Katelyn Clark led to the foul. This incident arose when Reese secured an offensive rebound, and Clark’s aggressive move caused Reese to fall to the floor.

After this incident, Reese has faced off against various teams, collecting additional technical fouls against the New York Liberty, Dallas Wings, Connecticut Sun, Los Angeles Sparks, and the Mystics.

In comparison, last season, Reese had four technical fouls, one of which was against Clark. It’s interesting to note that Clark herself was suspended last season for accruing seven technicals, with her last one coming in the season’s final month.

If Reese reaches that eighth technical, she not only faces suspension but will also lose her game check for that match, which complicates finances for her. Reese has been vocal about concerns regarding fair pay in the league.

On a broader issue, Reese shared her thoughts on the recent negotiations between the WNBA and the players’ union. She was quite passionate about feeling disrespected by the proposal put forth, highlighting how listening to the discussions felt more dismissive than engaging.

In a candid moment during an Instagram live session last October, Reese opened up about the struggles of living on her WNBA salary, revealing her challenges in paying rent amidst high living costs. Her transparency about her situation seems to resonate with many fans.
