Forrest Frank's Back Injury Leads to New Song on Trusting God During Tough Times

Forest Frank Writes Viral Song After Skateboarding Injury

Christian artist Forest Frank recently created a viral song while recovering from a serious back injury sustained during a skateboarding accident. “Two days ago, I destroyed the L3 and L4,” he shared on social media, where he also posted a clip of his fall, showing him hitting his hips against the sidewalk.

In response to a comment asking, “How do you make great music with a broken back?” he humorously replied, “I don’t know. Let’s look into it.”

While lying in bed, Frank composed a song inspired by his experience. “I think I’m just going to sing something that pops out, and I’m going to make chords around it,” he explained. This song, completed in about three hours, features lyrics reflecting his faith and resilience. Parts of the lyrics include:

“God has my back / Even when I fall or get attacked / God has my back / Even when I’m low and short / God has my back / Even when my soul is full of sorrow / I don’t need to worry about tomorrow.”

In a follow-up video, he recounted the details of the accident. He mentioned that his wife, Grace, had helped him after he fell while skateboarding with his young son. “It was my 2-year-old’s casual session, so I didn’t even think about wearing a helmet. I’m grateful that it wasn’t worse—multiple fractures to L3 and L4. I’ll be lying in bed for a while… Sorry, Grace,” he wrote in the video caption.

Frank noted that he feels God’s presence even during difficult times. His newly created song quickly gained hundreds of thousands of views and inspired numerous follow-up videos.

He shared even more lyrics that convey themes of faith and hope. Frank, using personal experiences to fuel his music, has been building a catalog of faith-driven hits, including his breakout single “Good Day.” This song is part of his first solo album, The Son of God, which topped the Billboard Top Christian Album chart after its release last August.

He first gained recognition in 2017 as part of a surf-pop duo and has since transitioned to a successful solo career. At this year’s GMA Dove Awards, Frank was named New Artist of the Year and won Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year for “Good Day.” In May, he released his second album, The Son of God II.
