Lewis Hamilton’s Ambition at Ferrari
Lewis Hamilton has clinched seven Formula 1 Driver Championships, and as he gears up for the 2025 season with Ferrari, he approaches the possibility of winning an eighth title. However, he faces the challenge of not repeating the fate of legends like Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, who, despite their talent, didn’t secure championships with the team.
Hamilton seems determined to break that pattern. Speaking to the media ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix, he shared his plans to ensure success at Ferrari.
“I think there’s a huge potential within this team,” Hamilton remarked during the FIA press conference. He emphasized the unparalleled passion he feels in the organization.
Yet, he acknowledged the complexities within such a large team. “It’s a huge organization, and there are a lot of moving parts that aren’t operating as effectively as they should be. That’s part of why the team hasn’t enjoyed the level of success that I think they deserve,” he explained.
With that said, Hamilton sees it as his role to challenge every aspect of the team, especially those in key decision-making positions. “Over the last two decades, Ferrari has had great drivers like Fernando and Sebastian, but they didn’t win championships with us. I refuse to let that be my story,” he insisted.
To contribute to the team’s improvement, Hamilton has shared feedback and reports addressing various areas, including marketing strategies. “I’m going to go the extra mile,” he stated, recalling his experiences with other top teams. “Different cultures lead to different outcomes, and I believe that if you keep following the same path, you’ll get the same results.” He expressed optimism about the progress being made across several avenues.
“We’ve made strides in many areas, especially in marketing and in what we offer our sponsors. The engineers are working hard too,” he noted. He aims to build alliances and motivate his colleagues, emphasizing, “I’m here to win.”
Hamilton has spent significant time at Ferrari’s factory recently, attending multiple meetings to delve into the team’s plans for the future. “I’ve been in the factory for the past two weeks, meeting with key figures to discuss everything from next year’s engine to suspension components,” he shared.
He also mentioned the importance of structural adjustments and tackling current challenges with the car. Ferrari is introducing a new rear suspension at the Belgian Grand Prix, following upgrades made during the Austrian Grand Prix.
After placing fourth in recent races, Hamilton expressed anticipation for the new changes. “The team will test the upgraded suspension and gather data during practice ahead of qualifying,” he explained. Although he found the car felt similar during filming, he acknowledged there was more to learn.
“It felt the same as before,” he said about the new suspension. Yet, he remained hopeful for further insights after testing. “We can determine how to tweak it and enhance performance. The simulator doesn’t show any differences, but I believe there will be advantages on various circuits as we roll these upgrades out.” Hamilton is pleased to see significant developments within the team and expresses gratitude for the ongoing improvements to the SF-25.
In the end, he seems eager for what lies ahead, perhaps hinting that his reports are making an impact.
