Heckler Disrupts DeSantis Press Conference

A heckler interrupted Florida Governor Ron DeSantis during a press conference on Thursday in Bradenton, vocally criticizing his immigration policies. This event took place as DeSantis was paying tribute to wrestling icon Hulk Hogan, who recently passed away.

The heckler, situated at the back of the room, shouted, “Alligator Alcatraz – is that your inheritance?”

Surprised, DeSantis paused his remarks and addressed the heckler directly as security intervened.

“Hey, stop, stop! Stop! Get out of here! Get out of here!” the governor gestured amid the chaos.

Even as the authorities removed the heckler, the man continued to yell, and it all erupted just a few minutes after DeSantis began speaking.

Earlier in the conference, DeSantis recalled his memories of Hogan, particularly his famous match against Andre the Giant at WrestleMania III. He stated, “I remember Wrestlemania III. He was awake…” but was cut off by the heckler’s outburst.

Recently, DeSantis made headlines for pledging $245 million to the immigration detention center, often referred to as “Alligator Alcatraz.”

Before the disruption, DeSantis had expressed his sadness regarding Hogan’s death that morning while also sharing how big of a figure Hogan had been for many, especially in the realm of sports entertainment.

“I was sad to see the news that Hulk Hogan passed away today. He was a major icon,” DeSantis remarked, noting Hogan’s strong ties to the Florida area.

Growing up in the Tampa Bay region, Hogan, born Terry Borea, was indeed a beloved figure in the state.

At one point, DeSantis mentioned how different the big events were back in Hogan’s heyday—before the age of pay-per-view, where fans could simply attend without worrying about buying a subscription.

Further comments from the governor’s office were anticipated following this incident.
