Deion Sanders to hold press conference with Colorado medical team regarding unclear health issue

Deion Sanders Shares Positive Health Update

Deion Sanders recently provided a brief but optimistic health update, shedding some light on the medical issues he kept low-key during the offseason.

He tweeted, “My back and I feel good!” Early on Friday, Colorado’s coaching staff is scheduled for a press conference alongside the medical team from UC Anschutz and UC Health, where they’ll offer general updates and insights about the team.

At 57, Sanders hasn’t disclosed much about the mysterious illness that kept him out of the public eye this offseason. He missed parts of Buffalo’s spring and summer training, and even skipped the summer football camp. Notably, he described his current health challenges as being on a “completely different level” in a conversation with former NFL cornerback Asante Samuel back in May.

In recent years, the Hall of Famer has battled various health issues, including losing two toes due to a blood clot in his leg. While discussing his health at Big 12 Media Day earlier this month, he acknowledged the challenges but downplayed them, reassuring, “I’m back already.” He expressed eagerness for the upcoming responsibilities.

This offseason, Sanders spent a lot of time at his home in Canton, Texas, often with his kids, which became a rare opportunity for updates on his health. In a YouTube video posted by his son, Deion Jr., he admitted, “You know I’m still going through something,” suggesting he’s not fully recovered yet.

In another video, Deion Jr. emphasized the theme of “Fighting and Winning Battle,” reflecting on the struggles they had faced together. He expressed a bittersweet sentiment about leaving their home, noting, “It’s a blessing. He’s going to share everything he went through, and I’ll have it recorded.”

As for Sanders’ coaching career, this upcoming season will likely present his most demanding challenges since taking charge at Colorado State. With the second pick in the draft, he’ll no longer have the talents of two-way standout Travis Hunter or his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, who was drafted in the fifth round.

Buffalo’s season opener is set for August 29th at home against Georgia Tech.
