Multiple people stabbed at Walmart in Traverse City, Michigan

On Saturday evening, police and eyewitnesses reported that at least 11 individuals were stabbed at a Walmart in Michigan, creating a disturbing scene.

The incident began around 5 p.m. when a suspect started randomly attacking shoppers in the store located in Traverse City, approximately 255 miles northwest of Detroit.

“Everyone in the store started screaming and running,” said Tasha Nash, who works at Walmart.

Witnesses described the attacker as being eventually subdued by courageous shoppers before law enforcement arrived. He collapsed prior to his arrest.

Images from the scene revealed the suspect being taken away in a Sheriff’s vehicle following the chaotic event.

Shoppers arriving after the attack were taken aback by the overwhelming presence of first responders. “We were about to head to Walmart, and then this happened,” recounted one eyewitness, noting how they posted about it online shortly after being told to stay clear of the area.

Many were struck by the extensive emergency response; “I’ve never seen so many police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks. They sent employees home and ordered everyone to leave,” one shopper noted.

The 11 victims were quickly transported to Manson Medical Center, the largest hospital in northern Michigan, where they are currently receiving care. Details about the severity of their injuries remain unclear, and there’s no confirmation of any fatalities.

Manson Healthcare acknowledged the tragic event, expressing support for those affected and gratitude towards first responders, who are now handling an uptick in emergency cases.

Authorities mentioned that details are still limited and have yet to release the suspect’s name or any potential motive behind the attack.

A Walmart representative stated that the retailer is cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation.

Dan Bongino, the Deputy Director of the FBI, mentioned on social media that the agency is also responding to assist local authorities as they probe into this serious incident.

The investigation is ongoing, and the public is advised to steer clear of the affected area.

This story is still developing. Please stay tuned for updates.
