WWE Star Chelsea Green Steps Back from Social Media

WWE star Chelsea Green announced on Friday night that she’s taking a break from social media following backlash over her comments regarding the passing of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan. This reaction came after she expressed her condolences, calling Hogan an “absolute icon” on CBS News’ 24/7 show, while also acknowledging his “polarizing political views.”

Hogan had become a controversial figure recently, especially after supporting President Donald Trump in the 2024 election and being linked to leaked audio featuring racist remarks. This has caused many wrestling fans to distance themselves from him.

Green’s tribute sparked substantial backlash on social media, prompting her to address the fans. In her post on X, she stated, “A key part of my role at @WWE includes engaging with the public and responding to questions. If my response seemed to overlook genuine concerns, I truly apologize—that was not my intention. I try to honor those who have passed, even when the circumstances are complex.”

It appears the negative reactions have caused Green to completely withdraw from social media. She expressed her intention to keep her page positive and humorous but admitted that the situation escalated unexpectedly. “Social media was supposed to be fun,” she reflected, “but it became overwhelming, and sometimes you really need to step back.”

Hogan passed away at his home in Florida, reportedly due to a heart-related issue. The wrestling community has come together to remember him. WWE honored him during “Friday Night Smackdown” with a video tribute highlighting his wrestling legacy and held a 10-bell salute.
