On Sunday, Marcus Morris Sr. was arrested due to fraud charges, as indicated by online booking records.
The NBA veteran and former Knick faces felony fraud charges, reportedly linked to a bounced check. It appears he was taken into custody at the airport.
Online records suggest that the case may relate to a different matter, and he was released on his own recognizance.
Details about the charges remain unclear at this time.
This isn’t Morris’s first run-in with the law.
In 2012, he participated in a program concerning battery charges, and he was cleared of any assault-related charges from a 2015 basketball brawl.
Over his 13 seasons in the NBA, starting in 2011, Morris played for multiple teams including the Rockets, Suns, Pistons, Celtics, Knicks, Clippers, 76ers, and Cavaliers. His last stint in the league was with the 76ers and the Cavaliers during the 2023-24 season.
During the 2019-20 season, he played for the Knicks, participating in 43 games and averaging 19.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Morris was involved in a trade with the Clippers, which brought Mo Harkless to the Knicks that season.
He had a brief return to the Knicks last season but was let go less than two weeks after signing a training camp contract on September 15.
Earlier this year, Morris began making appearances on ESPN’s “First Take.”
Interestingly, he was a first-round draft pick back in 2011, when the Rockets chose him with the 14th overall pick.
