Indiana Fever Signs Chloe Bibby on Temporary Contract
On Friday, the Indiana Fever announced that they have signed Chloe Bibby to a seven-day contract. Although it’s a short-term deal, she may prove to be a valuable addition.
The Australian forward played against the Chicago Sky, finishing with eight points, two rebounds, and one block in just 11 minutes off the bench. She successfully made two out of four three-pointers, demonstrating her potential for providing both size and floor spacing for the Fever as they navigate their lineup throughout the season.
This contract comes as a result of starting guard Caitlyn Clark being sidelined indefinitely due to a groin injury, which was noted earlier this month.
Bibby isn’t new to the WNBA roster competition; prior to joining the Fever, she had two stints with the Golden State Valkyries. During the preseason and regular season, she played two and five games, respectively, averaging 6.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per game, shooting 40.7% from the field, including 42.1% from three-point range.
Valkyries head coach Natalie Nakase has praised Bibby for her contributions, particularly her shooting ability from beyond the arc.
“Floor spacing is a key part of our philosophy,” Nakase mentioned to reporters. “She fits well because she’s big enough to create space, but she’s also really physical and a good rebounder. Chloe is like a Swiss Army knife.”
What makes Bibby’s situation particularly interesting is that she is a 27-year-old rookie in the WNBA. She graduated from the University of Maryland in 2022, went undrafted, and briefly attended training camp with the Minnesota Lynx, where she played one game before being cut.
However, she has since enjoyed considerable success overseas. Bibby was the MVP of the Polish league in 2024 and earned the same honor in Spain’s Liga Femenina de Baloncesto in 2025.
Given that her contract is temporary and the Fever can only have 12 players on their roster, there could be a push to find a way to keep her around. In just her first outing with the team, Bibby has already shown promising two-way contributions in Indiana.
