Michael Lewis Sentenced for Stalking WNBA Star
Michael Lewis, aged 55, received a prison sentence of two to five years on Monday after being charged with stalking WNBA player Kate Linklark.
This arrest took place in Indianapolis earlier this year, where Lewis allegedly sent a series of threatening and sexually explicit messages to Linklark via the social media platform X.
Reportedly, he contacted Clark before the FBI intervened and later showed up at her hotel in Indianapolis with a disturbing message. Lewis, originally from Texas, was found in Indiana at the time.
In January, he was ordered to cease all contact with Clark and stay away from Indiana Fever and Pacer games, along with any associated events or properties. He was also advised to maintain distance from Clark’s boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, who is the coach at Butler University.
During the court hearing on Monday, Lewis appeared to become unstable, necessitating frequent corrections from the judges.
He claimed his actions stemmed from a desire to ensure Clark’s safety, stating, “I just want her to be safe,” and suggested his pursuit was out of concern for her well-being.
He insisted, “I’ve never threatened her, I’ve never thought about threatening her,” adding complexity to his plea.
The judge remarked that Lewis was “going to speak himself out of the plea,” emphasizing the importance of acknowledging liability as part of the agreement.
After hesitating for a moment, Lewis ultimately confirmed his acceptance of the charges linked to his plea bargain.
Consequently, he was sentenced to serve two to five years in prison.
