JP Morgan and Coinbase to Allow Direct Bank-to-Wallet Link for Chase Users

JPMorgan Chase and Coinbase Partnership

On Wednesday, JPMorgan Chase and Coinbase confirmed their partnership, enabling Chase customers to link their bank accounts directly to their cryptocurrency wallets starting in 2026.

Melissa Feldsher, who oversees Payments and Lending Innovation at JPMorgan Chase, emphasized that this collaboration is a significant move towards giving customers more control over their financial futures. She noted that the initiative will allow Chase users to transfer points into cryptocurrency in a smooth and secure manner.

Beginning in 2026, customers will also have the option to transfer their ultimate reward points to their Coinbase accounts, where 100 points will equal the redemption value of 100 points. Additionally, starting in Fall 2025, Chase customers can utilize their credit cards to fund their Coinbase accounts.

The two organizations indicated that this direct connection would enable shared customers to benefit from the confidence, security, and privacy they associate with Chase services. Moreover, Coinbase users will also have the ability to use Chase credit cards for their transactions.

JP Morgan’s Approach to Cryptocurrency

This recent agreement marks a notable shift for JPMorgan, which is exploring options like offering loans backed by clients’ cryptocurrency holdings. It’s interesting to think about how far the bank has come, especially considering CEO Jamie Dimon’s strong initial skepticism toward cryptocurrencies back in 2017 when he labeled Bitcoin as a “fraud.” Earlier this year, he reiterated his reservations about digital currencies, but did announce that JPMorgan clients would eventually be able to buy Bitcoin.

In related news, Coinbase shares experienced a rise of over 2% on trading platforms earlier in the day, with a notable 47% increase since the year began. JPMorgan Chase’s stock also saw a slight increase of 0.58%.
