Tom Brady reacts sharply to Birmingham staff member regarding David Beckham choice.

In August 2023, Tom Brady made a significant impact when he became a minority owner of Birmingham City. The 47-year-old former quarterback was quite vocal about his aspirations, even appearing alongside football icon David Beckham in an Amazon documentary titled “Brady & the Blues,” which is available on Prime Video.

In the second episode of the series, Brady spoke with a Birmingham City representative right after a match where they secured a 3-1 victory in September, a game also associated with owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

During his time in the UK, Brady teased Beckham regarding his previous association with Manchester United, suggesting that Beckham didn’t quite fit in and shouldn’t be given a Birmingham gift bag. Yet, Brady dismissed the notion: “That’s silly. Just give him something nice to take home. He doesn’t have to wear it.”

Before the game, the seven-time Super Bowl champion advised Birmingham City co-owner Tom Wagner that Beckham should receive club merchandise like sweaters, hoodies, and caps as a gesture.

In other parts of the documentary, Brady shared his thoughts on the changes he wants to implement to shift the club’s history of losses. He expressed concern about former manager Wayne Rooney’s work ethic and characterized some players from the 2023-24 season as “lazy and entitled.”

“We’ve already made changes in coaching—it’s really about the players now,” Brady mentioned after Birmingham’s relegation in his first season. “When players are both lazy and talented, success becomes quite elusive. This summer will likely bring a lot of changes since we need to move away from the culture of losing.”

Both Birmingham City and Wrexham achieved automatic promotions in the previous season. Wrexham finished second with 92 points, while Birmingham clinched the title with a record-breaking 111 points in the English Football League.

Birmingham’s new season is set to kick off at home against Ipswich Town on August 8.
