Trump Plans to Create a Grand Ballroom at the White House in a New Golden Era

Plans for White House Expansion Announced

The Trump administration has put forth an ambitious project aimed at expanding the White House complex, including the construction of a $200 million state ballroom funded entirely by private donations. This initiative seeks to alleviate long-standing space limitations while preserving the storied charm of the White House.

On Thursday, it was disclosed that a new 90,000-square-foot state ballroom will be added, designed primarily for significant diplomatic gatherings, recognition of global leaders, and the provision of essential space for future presidential functions. This marks the most substantial addition to the White House since the Truman administration.

“For 150 years, there has been a persistent absence of a grand, dignified venue for important events,” the White House expressed in a statement. “Currently, to accommodate such events, we resort to placing a large tent about 100 yards from the main building, which is far from ideal. The new state ballroom will have a seating capacity for 650, significantly more than the 200-person limit of the eastern room.”

McCrery Architects, known for their expertise in classic designs, has been selected to lead the design efforts. “Modern Presidents encounter the challenge of hosting major events in spaces that haven’t seen updates since President Truman,” remarked CEO Jim McCrery. “I feel privileged that President Trump has entrusted me with facilitating this beautiful and necessary renovation.”

This project, developed by Clark Construction with design contributions from AECOM, is slated to commence in September 2025, with a goal of finishing well before the end of Trump’s tenure.

The new ballroom will be situated on the current East Wing site, which was established in 1902 and has undergone several renovations, including a substantial expansion in 1942.

White House Chief of Staff Susie Wills lauded the project, stating, “President Trump is an exceptional builder with a keen eye for detail. The Trump administration is dedicated to collaborating with the right partners to honor the unique history of the White House while creating a magnificent ballroom for future generations of Americans.”

The White House indicated that President Trump and several patriotic contributors have confidently pledged to fund the $200 million structure. Additionally, the US Secret Service will ensure necessary security improvements and adjustments.
