Arizona Representative Quang Nguyen (R) took to X-Post to express concern that American citizens without guns may find their freedoms of speech and property rights severely threatened.

He mentioned that the Second Amendment, “The Right to Keep and Bear Arms,” underpins and defends all the freedoms articulated in the Bill of Rights. Without arms, citizens may struggle to secure their rights as outlined in the Third Amendment, which relates to personal security, and the Fourth Amendment, which safeguards property rights.

Nguyen expressed in a tweet, “The disarmed public is more vulnerable to censorship, illegal searches and seizures, and political repression.”

During the American Revolution, British authorities enforced a quartering law that required colonists to house British troops and their horses in their homes and barns. This sometimes escalated to British soldiers commandeering livestock and other goods from the colonists. To protect families from such government overreach, the Third Amendment was introduced.

The Fourth Amendment extends beyond simply protecting homes; it guarantees the right to privacy concerning people, homes, papers, and effects. It emphasizes a specific right to security and privacy.

Nguyen argues that disconnecting Americans from their guns leaves them vulnerable to government encroachments on their property and privacy, jeopardizing their sense of safety.
