Hulk Hogan Remembered in Florida
On August 1, 2025, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ordered both the Florida and U.S. flags to fly at half-staff to honor the late wrestling star, Hulk Hogan, who died at the age of 71 the previous Thursday. DeSantis also declared this date as “Hulk Hogan Day,” recognizing Hogan as a “true Floridian.”
In a statement, DeSantis noted, “His larger-than-life personality will be missed. The ‘Hulkster’ was an icon for many who grew up in the 80s and 90s, and even today. He embodied what it meant to be a Floridian.”
In honor of a great Floridian, Hulk Hogan, we’re lowering the flags at the capitol and in Pinellas County tomorrow. Additionally, I am officially declaring tomorrow, August 1st, 2025, as “Hulk Hogan Day” in Florida. Rest in peace, brother.
Emergency services had responded to a cardiac arrest call at Hogan’s Clearwater home on July 24. He was taken to a hospital, where he later passed away.
Former President Donald Trump also shared a tribute on Truth Social, expressing his condolences and highlighting Hogan’s impact. “We lost a great friend today, the ‘Hulkster.’ He was strong, tough, and smart, but had the biggest heart. His speech at the Republican National Convention was one of the highlights of the week,” Trump stated. He conveyed his best wishes to Hogan’s wife, Sky, and family, affirming that Hogan will be deeply missed.
