Mika Parsons Requests Trade from Dallas Cowboys

Mika Parsons shared on social media Friday that he has asked the Dallas Cowboys for a trade, and his teammates quickly rallied behind him. The 26-year-old linebacker expressed dissatisfaction with the team’s lack of progress in contract negotiations.

His teammate, Ceedee Lamb, supported Parsons through a post on X. Lamb emphasized that the Cowboys should just meet their obligations: “Never fail. You just pay the guy what you owe. No extra curriculum is needed,” he wrote.

Other players, including cornerback Trevon Diggs and linebacker Demarvion Overshown, showed their solidarity by updating their profile pictures to include Parsons.

In his post, Parsons explained his commitment to the Cowboys, saying, “Yes, I wanted to be here. I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a cowboy and wear a star in my helmet.” He expressed his hopes of playing for the best fans and contributing to what he considers America’s team, noting, “Unfortunately, I don’t want to be here anymore.”

Parsons clarified that he doesn’t wish to handle negotiations without an agent, particularly given concerns about injuries and the organization’s treatment of him and his teammates.

He mentioned that he was hoping for a contract extension after his third season, but felt unheard by the team. “We have not yet had a call, email, or text regarding the start of negotiations,” he wrote, pointing out the lack of communication from the Cowboys.

Ultimately, Parsons stated he made a tough decision in requesting a trade, personally informing Stephen Jones of his desire to leave the team.

Parsons has been a standout presence since being drafted 12th overall in 2021, making the Pro Bowl in each of his four seasons. He has recorded 52.5 sacks, 172 solo tackles, and nine forced fumbles over 63 games, with 12 sacks last season alone.
