Have you ever heard of pocket pancakes?
Well, now you have.
During a recent game where the Brewers triumphed 16-9 over the Nationals, the manager shared a glimpse of his in-game snacking routine.
In a live segment with Apple TV+ Sideline reporter Tricia Whitaker, he was asked about his snack preferences during the game.
Whitaker brought up some rumors, saying, “There are whispers that you enjoy stashing snacks during the game.”
“I think I’m just like everyone else. No need to call me out,” Murphy responded, pulling some pancakes from his back pocket.
He then offered some to Whitaker, who happily accepted and took a bite on air.
“So, what else do you have back there? Pizza? Bagels?” she probed as he enjoyed his pancakes.
“Whatever,” Murphy replied casually.
He seemed at ease, especially since the Brewers had built a 6-1 lead just before their chat.
However, prior to the game, the Brewers placed outfielder Jackson Chourio on the 10-day injured list due to a strained right hamstring.
Murphy later revealed to the media that Chourio’s injury was more serious than initially thought.
“It looks like it won’t be a quick recovery,” Murphy remarked before the game. “He was diagnosed with more severity than we first believed. The specifics are still unclear. We’ll need to focus on rehabilitation.”
He mentioned that Chourio, who is only 21, is likely to receive injections of platelet-rich plasma.
This season, in 106 games, Chourio has achieved a batting line of .276/.311/.474, along with 17 home runs, 67 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases.
The injury appeared to occur while he was sprinting for a triple.
Initially, Chourio downplayed the pain and described it as feeling like “a convulsion.”
“I think it started when the ball hit the wall, and then I sprinted to touch the base,” Chourio explained. “It felt a bit weird at first, but as I kept going, I wanted to make it to third base.”
Despite the setback, he expressed little concern about the time he might miss.
“No, not really. I’m just hoping it isn’t anything too serious. I want to rejoin the team as soon as I can,” he stated.
